Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced PICU RN with at least two years of recent pediatric intensive care experience and an active NM or compact RN license.

Responsibilities

• Work in a Pediatric Intensive Care Unit with 12 or more beds
• Patient population includes critically ill pediatric patients with staffing ratios of 1:1 to 1:3 for extended care or SAC status
• Day shift, 12-hour shifts, 3 days per week
• Floating required between departments or nearby locations within 20 miles
• Epic EMR is used; prior Epic experience is preferred
• Weekend and on-call duties are required as needed by the unit
• Direct patient care includes assessing, planning, implementing, evaluating, and documenting care for pediatric patients
• Responsible for medication administration, protocol documentation, and patient/family education
• Floats as needed and may be assigned to multiple units within a 20-mile radius
• Required to pass onsite Basic Cardiac Arrhythmia Testing on the first day of orientation; one retake permitted
• Clinical supervision of LPNs and non-licensed assistive personnel may be required
• Applicants who have been permanent staff at this facility must wait one year before being considered as a traveler
• No local candidates within a 50-mile radius will be considered
• Dress code and holiday coverage requirements may apply

Requirements

• Active NM or compact state RN license required
• BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications required, must be from American Heart Association, American Health and Safety, or American Red Cross
• Associates Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) required
• Minimum two years of recent experience in a 12+ bed PICU required
• Previous completion of at least one 13-week travel assignment required
• Pediatric travel nursing experience is required
• Pediatric CVICU experience is a plus
• Must be a team player, flexible, and able to work in a fast-paced environment
