Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Tele position requiring strong cardiac skills and regional floating in the Charlotte, NC area.

Responsibilities

Hospital-based Med/Surg Telemetry unit with 32 beds
Patient population includes stroke, seizure, AMS, weakness, AKI/CKD, falls, cellulitis, and non-healing wounds
RN patient ratios are typically 1:5-6, may increase to 1:7-8 during surge staffing
Uses Epic EMR, Alaris IV pumps, Omnicell for medication dispensing, and Phillips monitors
12-hour day shifts from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM with every other weekend required
No on-call or call back responsibilities
Floating required to facilities within Region 2 according to staffing needs, including Pineville, Anson, Union, Union West, CMC Main, CMC Mercy, and Levine Children's Hospital
Unit does not have remote telemetry monitoring; staff are responsible for monitoring and posting every shift
Responsibilities include cardiac rhythm monitoring, management of non-titrating cardiac drips, and comprehensive med/surg care
Support staff includes CNAs, charge nurse, phlebotomy, IV/VAT team, pharmacist, case managers, respiratory therapy, nurse educators, hospitalists, and APPs
Orientation includes new employee onboarding plus 2 days of departmental training
Navy blue scrubs required for RNs
Free parking provided on site
Travelers are expected to work 75% of holidays assigned during the contract
Unit culture is described as family oriented

Requirements

Active NC or compact RN license
Minimum 18 months of recent Med/Surg Telemetry experience
Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications
Proficiency in cardiac rhythm interpretation and experience with non-titrating cardiac drips such as Cardizem and Amiodarone
General med/surg skillset required
EPIC charting experience preferred
Must live at least 50 miles from the home unit
