Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for an Emergency Department position in Texas requiring ACLS, BLS, ENPC, TNCC, and NIHSS certifications.

Responsibilities

• Work in a busy hospital Emergency Department with 48 private rooms, 27 hallway stretchers, 9 Fast Track, and 5 behavioral health rooms
• Typical patient ratios are 1:4 in the ED, 1:5 in behavioral health, and 1:3 for cardiac/trauma
• Uses Alaris pumps, Belmont and Level 1 rapid infusers, Stryker stretchers, and central monitoring equipment
• Shift is 3:00 PM to 3:00 AM, with both day and night teams having charge nurses, additional mid-shifts, patient care techs, a paramedic, and an LVN
• No on-call is required
• EMR system used is MEDITECH; prior experience is preferred
• Typical procedures include splinting, EKGs, trauma and resuscitation assists, central line management, airway support, behavioral health de-escalation, and rapid infuser use
• Team-oriented environment with a mix of experienced staff and support personnel
• Navy blue scrubs are required for RNs
• Strong multitasking, teamwork, and self-starting skills are valued
• References required for consideration as per state guidelines

Requirements

• Active TX or compact RN license
• Minimum one year of recent ER nursing experience
• Current ACLS, BLS, ENPC, TNCC, and NIHSS certifications required
• Certification in CPI or accepted equivalents required for ER and behavioral health
• Experience with trauma care and holding inpatient patients is preferred
• Meditech EMR experience is preferred
• No gaps in work history of 90 days or more in the past 12 months
• Must reside more than 50 miles from the facility; local candidates not eligible
• US SSN and DOB required for consideration
