Job Description

American Traveler seeks a Med/Surg Tele RN with a current NY license, Epic experience, and 1 year of relevant experience for a dayshift contract.

Responsibilities

• Work in a 39-bed acute stroke and medical-surgical/telemetry unit at a tertiary care hospital
• Patient population includes acute stroke patients, neurological disorders, and acute medical conditions
• Patient ratios range from 1:5 to 1:7 on the Med/Surg Tele unit
• Day shift position working 4x12-hour shifts (7:00–19:00), including every other weekend
• Required to wear navy and white scrubs
• Uses Epic EMR system; experience with Epic is required
• Daily responsibilities include acute stroke and neurological care, telemetry monitoring, cardiac rhythm management, and medical-surgical interventions
• First-time travelers are accepted for this position
• Participation in team-based, adjustable-acuity care focused on evidence-based stroke management
• Candidates are allowed up to 3 called-off shifts during a 13-week assignment
• Navy and white scrub attire is required for all shifts

Requirements

• Active NY RN license in hand is mandatory
• Minimum 1 year of experience as a Med/Surg Tele RN
• Certifications required: ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS
• Must be able to interpret and manage cardiac dysrhythmias and participate in rapid response/code teams
• Experience with peripheral IV therapy and phlebotomy required
• Experience with respiratory modalities including nasal cannula, face masks, portable oxygen, and non-invasive airway management
• Must follow isolation precautions
• Candidates must live at least 75 miles outside the facility
