Job Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for an LDRP position requiring at least 3 years of LDRP experience, an ND or Compact RN license, and current AWHONN Intermediate Fetal Monitoring certification.
Responsibilities
- Work in an acute care hospital within a Level II trauma center
- LDRP unit with 7 L&D beds, 12 postpartum beds, 8 surgical beds, 1 dedicated C-section OR, and 2 GYN surgical ORs
- Patient population includes obstetric, labor and delivery, antepartum, triage, postpartum, and high risk cases from 23+ weeks gestation
- Common care for gestational hypertension, diabetes, MgSO4, preeclampsia, postpartum vaginal and C-section delivery, hysterectomy, bladder repairs, and mastectomy
- Follows AWHONN staffing ratios: L&D 1:1-2, Postpartum 1:2-3 couplets, Surgical/medical 1:3-4
- RNs required to titrate drips including pitocin, magnesium sulfate, and occasional insulin drips
- Uses Epic EMR—Epic experience is required
- Electronic fetal monitoring equipment includes GE/Corometrics units
- Rotating 12-hour shifts (7a-7p and 7p-7a) scheduled 6 weeks in advance, with every third weekend requirement
- Required to float to Peds MS, NICU (feeder-growers), Med/Surg, PCU, ICU, ED, and Psych units as needed
- No call requirement; optional overtime opportunities
- Provide comprehensive LDRP nursing care, including triage, labor and delivery, postpartum, and surgical cases
- Expected to jump in with minimal orientation (two 12-hour shifts of unit-specific orientation provided)
- Work collaboratively with OB scrub techs, unit clerks, occasional nurse techs, and in-house anesthesia
- Charge nurse is present each shift and takes a patient assignment
- OB and neonatologist are on call 24/7; NNP present overnight
- RNs may read their own telemetry strips for Phase 1 recovery of C-section patients
- Supplemental oxygen management is occasionally required
- High patient satisfaction is a feature of this department
- Surgical scrubs are provided
- First time travelers are welcome to apply
- Holiday coverage may be required as needed
- Up to 7 days RTO allowed per 13-week contract; additional RTO will not be approved
Requirements
- Active ND or Compact RN license required at time of consideration
- Minimum of 3 years of LDRP experience required
- Current BLS, NRP, and AWHONN Intermediate Fetal Monitoring certifications required (AWHONN Advanced preferred); STABLE preferred
- Must have Epic EMR experience
- RNs must be able to titrate oxytocin, magnesium sulfate, and insulin drips
- Must be proficient in electronic fetal monitoring interpretation
- Ability to scrub preferred
- Driver's license required for consideration
- Two professional references required: one supervisor from the past 12 months and one peer or supervisor from the past 3 years
- Applicants must reside at least 50 miles from the facility
- Candidates must not have been employed full, part-time, or PRN by any CommonSpirit facility in the past year
