Job Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Cardiovascular Progressive Care Unit (CVPCU) night shift position specializing in post-cardiac surgery patient care requiring high acuity experience.
Responsibilities
- Work in a hospital-based Cardiovascular Progressive Care Unit (CVPCU) surgical step-down setting
- Patient population includes individuals recovering from cardiac and vascular surgeries, heart and lung transplants, and those with mechanical circulatory support devices such as LVADs
- 12 out of 32 unit beds are designated for IMC-level continuous cardiac monitoring; remaining beds are telemetry or non-monitored
- Typical nurse-patient ratios are 1:3 during the day and 1:4 at night across mixed acuity levels
- Night shift position with hours from 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM
- Epic EMR is utilized, and experience with this system is required
- Primary responsibilities include caring for post-operative patients following cardiac, vascular, and thoracic surgery, including those using LVADs or recovering from transplant procedures
- Work in a multidisciplinary team in a fast-paced environment
- Assigned to mixed acuity patients, including IMC, telemetry, and non-monitored levels
- Orientation takes place on the 2nd and 4th Monday of the month
- Local candidates are accepted at the same rate except for specified facilities
- Scrub or dress code and holiday requirements are determined by the unit and facility policies
Requirements
- Active MD or compact RN license
- Current BLS certification required
- At least 2 years of recent cardiac open heart recovery experience
- Minimum of 2 prior travel assignments in comparable settings
- Strong surgical IMC and ICU experience needed for high acuity IMC patient management
- Experience in facilities with at least 500 beds is required
- Epic EMR experience required
- Critical Care Certification and ACLS are preferred qualifications
