Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a high-acuity Pediatric ICU position requiring 2 years of recent PICU experience and active NC or compact RN license.

Responsibilities

• Position is in a 24-bed Pediatric ICU at a Level 1 Pediatric Trauma Center and teaching hospital
• Patient census averages 21-23 with acuity-based nurse-to-patient ratios (2:1, 1:1, or 1:2)
• Patient population includes respiratory, trauma, DKA, seizures, neurosurgical, renal failure, transplants, blood disorders, and complex medical cases
• Utilizes equipment such as Artic Sun, EVDs, Camino device, Belmont Rapid Infuser, Alaris and Medfusion pumps, Omnicell, and Phillips monitors
• EPIC EMR is used; experience required
• Shifts are 0645 – 1915 with every other weekend required and alternating major holidays
• Floating to Pediatric CVICU, NICU, Neonatal PCU, and General Peds as needed
• Team consists of CNAs, unit secretaries, charge nurse, phlebotomy, IV/VAT team, resource nurse, respiratory therapists, intensivists, residents, and APPs all available 24/7
• No on-call requirements for travelers
• Centralized and bedside monitoring are utilized
• Orientation includes facility orientation and 2 days unit-specific training
• Scrub color is navy
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply

• Manager approval is required for requested time off
• Schedule is set every 6 weeks

Requirements

• Active NC or compact RN license required
• Current BLS and PALS certifications required
• Minimum 2 years of recent high-acuity PICU experience is required
• Experience with critical care vasoactive drip titration, invasive line management, CRRT, ventilator, and trach management is necessary
• Competency with Artic Sun, EVDs, Camino device, Alaris & Medfusion pumps, and basic bedside procedures required
• EPIC charting system experience required
• Ability to float to Pediatric CVICU may be discussed during interview
