Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Pediatric ICU position requiring a NC or compact license and strong high-acuity pediatric critical care experience.

Responsibilities

• Work in a Level 1 Pediatric Trauma Center and teaching hospital
• Unit features 24 beds with an average census of 21-23 pediatric patients
• Patient population includes respiratory, trauma, DKA, seizures, neurosurgical, acute/chronic renal failure, orthopedic, surgical, transplant, complex medical, and blood disorder cases
• RN-to-patient ratios vary by acuity: 2:1, 1:1, or 1:2
• Uses Epic EMR, Alaris and Medfusion syringe pumps, Omnicell, Phillips monitors, and advanced critical care technology including Artic Sun, Belmont Rapid Infuser, Camino, Accuvein, PIV Ultrasound, EV-1000 Vigileo, I-stat, and Accuryn
• Shift is 0645 – 1915 with every other weekend and alternate major holidays required
• Float as needed to Pediatric CVICU, NICU, Neonatal PCU, and general Pediatric units
• Centralized and bedside monitoring is utilized throughout the unit
• First-time travelers will be considered for this role
• Team-oriented environment with 24/7 support from CNAs, unit secretaries, phlebotomy, IV/VAT team, resource nurses, RTs, intensivists, residents, and APPs
• Two days of departmental orientation and facility onboarding provided
• Navy scrubs required

• Must be comfortable in a fast-paced, high-acuity setting

Requirements

• Active NC or compact RN license required
• BLS and PALS certifications required
• Minimum of 2 years strong high acuity Pediatric ICU experience
• Experience with Epic EMR preferred
• Proficiency using critical care equipment such as Artic Sun, EVDs, Camino, Belmont Rapid Infuser, and management of vasoactive drips and invasive lines
• Competency in ventilator and trach management, sedation and analgesic drip management, and CRRT
• Ability to float to Pediatric CVICU will be assessed during interview
• One recent professional reference from a supervisor, manager, director, or charge RN required
