Job Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Night shift Observation Unit position requiring at least one year of inpatient experience and an active OK or compact RN license.
Responsibilities
- Work in the ER Observation unit within a hospital setting
- Night shift schedule with 12-hour shifts, 3 days per week
- Inpatient care for patients with a range of health issues from simple to complex
- Not open to ER nurses; ER experience is not accepted
- Must float within the assigned unit if needed
- Responsible for assessment, documentation, and implementation of care for an assigned group of observation patients
- Assists physicians with examinations and minor procedures
- Initiates and monitors IV infusions and blood products as prescribed
- Communicates care plans and hospital procedures to patients and families
- Delegates and supervises support staff as needed
- Holiday coverage may be required according to unit needs
- First time travelers are accepted for this position
- A six-month break is required before returning after completion of 26 weeks of employment
Requirements
- Active RN license from Oklahoma or a compact (eNLC) state
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications from the American Heart Association
- Associate’s degree in Nursing from an accredited program required
- At least one year of recent inpatient nursing experience required
- Ability to apply professional nursing theory and techniques
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Must reside outside a 50-mile radius from the facility
