Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Night shift Observation Unit position requiring at least one year of inpatient experience and an active OK or compact RN license.

Responsibilities

• Work in the ER Observation unit within a hospital setting
• Night shift schedule with 12-hour shifts, 3 days per week
• Inpatient care for patients with a range of health issues from simple to complex
• Not open to ER nurses; ER experience is not accepted
• Must float within the assigned unit if needed
• Responsible for assessment, documentation, and implementation of care for an assigned group of observation patients
• Assists physicians with examinations and minor procedures
• Initiates and monitors IV infusions and blood products as prescribed
• Communicates care plans and hospital procedures to patients and families
• Delegates and supervises support staff as needed
• Holiday coverage may be required according to unit needs
• First time travelers are accepted for this position
• A six-month break is required before returning after completion of 26 weeks of employment

Requirements

• Active RN license from Oklahoma or a compact (eNLC) state
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications from the American Heart Association
• Associate’s degree in Nursing from an accredited program required
• At least one year of recent inpatient nursing experience required
• Ability to apply professional nursing theory and techniques
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Must reside outside a 50-mile radius from the facility
