Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Float Pool Med/Surg position with night shifts, WI or compact license, and NIHSS certification required.

Responsibilities

• Hospital-based float pool position covering multiple in-patient units
• Will float to Medical, Surgical/Peds, Ortho/Neuro, and Sub-Acute Units
• Night shift schedule from 6:30 PM to 7:00 AM
• Every other weekend and holiday shifts are required
• Typical patient populations include medical, surgical, orthopedic, neurologic, pediatric, and sub-acute adults
• Utilize the nursing process and collaborate closely with interdisciplinary team members
• Administer prescribed medications and treatments according to hospital standards and policies
• Responsible for accurate and timely documentation per standards of care
• Develop and implement individualized patient care plans in conjunction with physicians and care team
• Participate in performance improvement activities and shared governance as assigned
• Expected to provide clinical expertise and support to other units during float assignments
• Holiday coverage is required
• Critical thinking, patient safety, and escalation responsibilities are essential to the role

Requirements

• Active WI or compact RN license required
• Current BLS (CPR) and NIHSS certifications required
• Must have recent Med/Surg experience and clinical competency in required modalities
• Annual flu vaccination required
