Description

Job Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a busy Emergency Department assignment in Washington, DC requiring a current DC RN license, trauma experience, and advanced certifications.

Responsibilities

  • Work in a fast-paced hospital Emergency Department
  • Patient population includes trauma, pediatric, psych, urgent care, and critical care cases
  • Expect to manage a 1:5 nurse-to-patient ratio and work as a bedside trauma RN
  • Day shift position with three 12-hour shifts per week
  • Experienced with Cerner EMR system required
  • Responsibilities include trauma response, medication titrations, management of arterial lines and chest tubes, and mass blood transfusions
  • Must provide a minimum of two supervisor or manager references, with at least one from the most recent employer
  • COVID and flu vaccinations may be required per facility policy
  • Team structure supports care for high-acuity patients in a collaborative environment

Requirements

  • Current and active RN license in DC is required
  • Minimum 3 years of recent emergency department nursing experience necessary
  • Two years of prior work experience in a US hospital in the specialty area required
  • Certifications required: BLS, ACLS, PALS, TNCC, and NIHSS (AHA only)
  • CPI certification is mandated
  • Graduation from an accredited or NLN-approved RN program required
  • BSN is highly desired
  • Cerner EMR experience required
  • Must have valid US Social Security number
  • No locals within 25 miles of the facility
