Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Labor & Delivery position requiring at least two years of recent LDRP experience and a current CA RN license.

Responsibilities

• Work in an acute care Family Birthing Center with L&D, Mother/Baby, and antepartum patients
• Unit includes 7 LDRP beds, 2 OBED beds, 4-8 overflow postpartum beds, 1 OR suite for C-sections, and a 2-bed NICU for newborn stabilization
• Handles 70-80 births per month and NST antepartum testing
• Patient population primarily 35 weeks gestation and above, occasional twin deliveries, with preterm patients under 35 weeks transferred
• Labor nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:2, 1:1 at delivery; Mother/Baby ratio is 1:4 couplets
• Nights, 12-hour shifts, every other weekend required
• First to float within all Sacramento area facilities as needed
• On-call/standby status may be required, with a 30-minute response time
• Cerner EMR and Fetalink EFM system used; GE fetal monitors for maternal and fetal monitoring
• Respiratory Therapist in attendance at all deliveries to manage respiratory support equipment
• Provide care in LDRP, assisting in labor, delivery, recovery, and postpartum care
• Assist with antepartum testing and stabilization of newborns alongside on-site perinatal specialists and respiratory therapists
• No CNAs; one OB Tech per shift
• Charge nurse or nurse shift manager present each shift; may take patient assignments when needed
• OB physician in-house 24/7; anesthesiologist on-call with 20-minute response time when not present
• Holidays rotate with core staff as scheduled
• Dress code is hospital scrubs
• May not have been directly employed by facilities associated with CommonSpirit, CHI, or Dignity within the past 12 months
• First-time travelers are accepted

Requirements

• Active CA RN license required at time of consideration
• Minimum 2 years recent experience in LDRP; preference for 3 years
• Certifications required: BLS, ACLS, NRP, and AWHONN Advanced Fetal Monitoring
• Must have OR circulating experience if not full LDRP
• Comfortable performing duties at the bedside during deliveries, including NRP at delivery and titrating drips such as Pitocin and insulin
• Experience using Cerner EMR preferred
• Two professional references: one supervisor within the past 12 months and one peer or supervisor within the past 3 years
