Job Description

American Traveler is seeking a Med Surg RN for a full-time night shift position requiring an active IA or compact RN license and current BLS and ACLS certifications.

Responsibilities

• Work in a hospital med-surg unit with adult patient population
• Full-time night shifts from 6:00pm to 6:30am, three 12-hour shifts per week
• Every other weekend and holiday rotation required
• Position involves planning, providing, and evaluating total patient care using the nursing process
• Includes directing patient teaching and supervising ancillary personnel
• Completion of CareLearning education modules required prior to start
• Proof of employment references and online verification of licensure or certification needed for consideration
• No radius rule specified; local candidates may apply
• Holiday coverage is expected per rotation schedule

Requirements

• Active IA or compact RN license
• Graduate of an accredited nursing program
• Current BLS/BCLS and ACLS certifications through the American Heart Association
• Iowa Mandatory Reporter Certificates for Child Abuse and Dependent Adult Abuse required or must complete before starting
• Immunizations including MMR, Varicella, Polio, Hepatitis B, TDaP (within 10 years), COVID-19, and seasonal flu vaccination required
• Negative 2-step Mantoux or QuantiFERON Gold TB test within one year or proof of positive result and chest x-ray
• Proof of recent physical (within one year) and 10-panel drug screen (within one month) required
• Background checks for all states of licensure and residence for the past seven years, including national/state sex offender checks
• Respiratory Fit Test within one year required (can be provided if not available)
• Experience preferred but not required
