Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced Stepdown RN for a telemetry position requiring a compact or SC RN license and prior travel nursing experience.

Responsibilities

• Work in a stepdown unit with a primary focus on telemetry patients
• Patient population includes adults and geriatrics
• Nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:4
• Shifts are 3x12 hours, days (7a-7p) with a rotating holiday schedule
• Every other weekend required
• Floating to similar units within the facility is expected, with travelers floated first
• Epic EMR is used in the facility
• Royal blue scrubs are required
• Responsibilities include cardiac telemetry monitoring and care for post-cardiac procedure and neuro stepdown patients
• Interdisciplinary support is available within the unit
• Orientation includes up to 24 hours plus completion of pre-start online modules
• Holiday rotation is required based on the facility's schedule
• All requested time off must be submitted at time of application; additional time off may not be approved
• During hurricane season (June to November), nurses may be assigned to emergency response teams as needed
• Free parking is available for staff
• Not open to first-time travelers

Requirements

• Active SC or compact RN license must be in hand prior to start
• Minimum of 1 year recent stepdown or telemetry nursing experience
• Previous travel nursing experience required
• Certifications required: BLS and ACLS (AHA only)
• NIHSS certification preferred
• Experience with cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia management, and rapid response/code teams preferred
• Valid Social Security Number and driver's license required for consideration
• Must reside at least 60 miles from the facility to qualify for travel pay rates
• Previous permanent staff including PRN must have a one year separation from the facility before applying
