Job Description

American Traveler is hiring a Registered Nurse for a Neuroscience Progressive Care Unit (PCU) night shift, requiring at least one year of stepdown experience and a SC or compact RN license.

Responsibilities

• Work in a Neuroscience PCU at a Level I Trauma, Teaching, Magnet hospital
• Patient ratios are 1:3-1:4, depending on acuity
• 3x12 hour night shifts (7:00 PM - 7:30 AM), with 4-5 weekend shifts per 4-week period
• No on-call requirements
• Floating within scope may be required to meet facility needs
• Uses EPIC EMR
• Solid royal blue or white top with royal blue bottoms required for scrubs
• Responsible for delivering neuro-progressive care to stepdown patients
• Environment is a large, fast-paced teaching hospital with Level I trauma capability
• First-time travelers are accepted for this role
• Returning employees must have a one-year break in service before returning as a traveler
• Holiday staffing coverage is required as needed
• Modules must be completed pre-start; allow approximately four hours for online training
• Travelers are subject to the same attendance policies as permanent staff
• During hurricane season (June-November), staff may be required to join emergency response teams
• Limited block scheduling may be considered with manager approval and based on unit needs
• RTO (time off) requests of 7 days or less (non-holiday) are eligible for auto offer; longer or holiday RTO requires facility approval
• Local candidates within 60 miles may be considered at a local rate

Requirements

• Active SC or compact RN license (license in hand prioritized; pending license accepted with proof of application or SC walk-through eligibility)
• Minimum one year of PCU or stepdown RN experience required
• Current American Heart Association BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
• Experience with EPIC EMR preferred
• Must provide SSN and valid driver’s license for consideration
