Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Family Birthing Center Labor & Delivery position requiring a NM or compact license and specialized certifications.

Responsibilities

• Position based in a hospital Family Birthing Center
• Care provided across antepartum, intrapartum, and postpartum/nursery settings
• Patient population includes laboring mothers and newborns including critical and high-risk cases
• Responsibilities include labor assessment, fetal monitoring, medication administration, prep for scheduled or emergency C-sections, and stabilization of newborns
• Expected to float to other departments or locations within a 20-mile range
• 12-hour night shifts from 7:00pm to 7:00am, three shifts per week
• EPIC EMR is used; onsite training is provided if needed
• Main responsibilities include triage of antepartum patients, labor and fetal assessment, administration of specialized medications, and immediate stabilization of newborns
• Care for postpartum mothers and newborns including hearing screens, IV starts, medication administration, and monitoring for withdrawal or hypoglycemia
• Required to assist with newborn care procedures such as circumcisions, phototherapy, and critical stabilization for transport
• Must provide holiday coverage as assigned
• Scrubs are required as the dress code
• Candidates with previous permanent employment at this health system must have a minimum one-year separation before being considered

Requirements

• Active NM or Compact RN license
• Minimum of two years of current experience in Labor & Delivery
• Associates Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) required
• Current certifications: BLS (AHA, American Health and Safety, or American Red Cross), NRP, and AWHONN Intermediate or Advanced Fetal Monitoring
• Must pass Basic Cardiac Arrhythmia (BCA) testing during the first week of assignment
• EPIC EMR experience preferred; onsite training available
• No local candidates accepted within a 50-mile radius
