Job Description

American Traveler is seeking a Pediatric RN with at least 2 years of experience, BCLS and PALS certification, and chemo administration skills for a night shift contract.

Responsibilities

• Work in a hospital pediatric unit with patient ages 0-17 including med-surg and hematology/oncology cases
• Target nurse-to-patient ratios of 1:5-6
• Night shifts are 12 hours (18:45-07:15), three shifts per week
• Every other weekend work required
• Assignment length is 13 weeks, with possible extension
• Floating required to PICU and NICU
• No on-call responsibilities
• Self-scheduling is available for shifts
• Unit uses Epic, Pyxis, and SBAR systems
• Main duties include caring for pediatric medical-surgical and hematology/oncology patients and administering chemotherapy
• Orientation includes 24 unit hours and a full week of hospital orientation
• Fun kid-themed tops and navy pants required; scrubs are not provided
• Floating to other pediatric units such as PICU and NICU required
• A maximum of 7 days RTO may be requested; additional time off or call-offs may result in contract cancellation
• No RTO requests allowed after booking
• Locals are accepted with no rate difference
• References from supervisors within the last 2 years and license verification required for consideration

Requirements

• Active NC or compact RN license required
• Minimum 2 years of pediatric RN experience required
• BCLS (Basic Cardiac Life Support) and PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) certifications required
• Experience administering chemotherapy required
• First-time travelers accepted with 2 years' pediatric experience
• Ability to start IVs and perform lab draws preferred
• Chemo certification preferred
