Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Tele position requiring a current NY RN license and proficiency in telemetry care.

Responsibilities

• Work in a complex care Med/Surg Tele unit within a tertiary hospital setting
• Night shift schedule with four 12-hour shifts per week (19:00-07:00)
• Patient population includes complex medicine, orthopedic overflow, and long-term cases
• Expected patient ratio ranges from 1:5 to 1:7
• Epic EMR is used on the unit and proficiency is required
• Weekend shifts required every other weekend
• Floating to other units is required
• Provide care for patients with complex medical and orthopedic needs, including long-term cases
• Respond to rapid response and code situations as part of multidisciplinary teams
• Adhere to strict infection control and isolation precautions
• Manage a variety of devices including feeding tubes, surgical drains, and oxygen delivery systems
• Navy pants and navy or white tops required per department dress code
• Holiday and rotating weekend coverage expected as scheduled
• Local candidates within 75 miles are not eligible for consideration

Requirements

• Active NY RN license required at time of application
• Current BLS certification required
• Minimum of 2 years of recent Med/Surg Tele experience
• Previous charge nurse experience required
• Proficiency in Epic EMR required
• Experience with telemetry monitoring, pacemakers, central and peripheral line management, blood product administration, phlebotomy, and complex procedures such as high flow nasal cannula, tracheostomy management, ortho trauma, and wound vac care
• Must live more than 75 miles from the facility
