Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Telemetry Float Pool position requiring a current NY RN license and night shift availability.

Responsibilities

• Float between Med/Surg, Telemetry, PCU, and acute inpatient rehab (ortho/neuro) units in a hospital setting
• Night shift from 7:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m., with 12-hour shifts, three shifts per week
• Weekend and holiday coverage required
• Patient ratio of 1:5-6
• Typical diagnoses include septic, COPD, CHF, post-op, general med/surg, post-op plastics, and ALC
• Manage Heparin drips and mag and K riders
• Uses Meditech EMR; prior Meditech experience required
• No on-call responsibilities
• Responsible for providing quality patient care and thorough patient assessments
• May be required to serve as a charge nurse
• Must be able to safely utilize patient lifts and ensure safety for self and others
• Ability to function well in stressful situations and demonstrate creative problem-solving skills
• Working with a multidisciplinary team across multiple units

Requirements

• Active, unencumbered NY RN license required
• Graduate from an accredited School of Nursing
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
• At least one successful travel nurse assignment completed
• PCU experience highly preferred
• Experience with Meditech charting system required
• Strong leadership, assessment, and delegation skills required
• Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills required
• First-time travelers will not be considered
• Must live outside a 75-mile radius of the facility
