Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Medicine Specialty Step Down unit night shift requiring at least 1 year of Med/Surg or Step Down experience and a current OK or compact RN license.

Responsibilities

• Position is located in a hospital Medicine Specialty Step Down unit
• Primarily cares for patients with a range of medical conditions transitioning from acute to stable status
• Night shift schedule with 12-hour shifts, three days per week
• No floating, call, or on-call requirements are specified
• 50 mile radius rule applies; local candidates within 50 miles are not eligible
• RN will provide comprehensive care for an assigned group of patients including administering medications, monitoring physiological data, and intervening as needed
• Supports physicians during examinations and assists with minor diagnostic procedures
• Responsible for documenting patient responses and communicating with patients and their families about care plans
• Delegates appropriate tasks to support staff as part of a team approach to care
• Must be able to adapt to diverse patient needs and demonstrate strong communication and organizational skills
• Candidates may only extend one time for a total of 26 weeks before requiring a 6-month break prior to reapplying

Requirements

• Active RN license issued by Oklahoma or a compact multistate RN license (eNLC)
• Current BLS certification from the American Heart Association
• Minimum of one year of recent Med/Surg or Step Down nursing experience required
• Associate’s Degree in Nursing from an accredited program required
• ICU experience preferred
