Description

American Traveler is seeking a skilled RN for a Progressive Care Unit (PCU) position on night shift requiring GA or compact licensure and at least two years of PCU experience.

Details

  • Position is in a hospital-based PCU with 10 beds and a Level 1 Trauma designation
  • Patients include step-down ICU cases, step-downs from ICU/ER, and diagnoses such as respiratory failure, renal failure, sepsis, DKA, stroke, and ARDS
  • Nurse-to-patient ratio is typically 1:3-4
  • CNA support is available during each shift
  • Uses EMR: Epic; IV pumps: Alaris; med dispensing: Pyxis; monitors: Phillips
  • Night shift is 7p-7a, 12 hours, with a 6-week schedule cycle
  • Required to work 6 weekend shifts per 6-week schedule and 75% of major holidays
  • Floating to other PCU units is required

Requirements

  • Active GA or compact RN license
  • Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
  • At least two years of recent PCU RN experience
  • Must pass an EKG competency exam
  • Experience with trach care, chest tubes, heparin and insulin drips, and management of invasive lines required
  • Epic EMR experience preferred
  • CCRN preferred but not required

Additional Information

  • Typical duties include bedside monitoring, management of various drips, invasive lines, and assisting with or managing bedside procedures
  • Team support includes 24/7 respiratory therapy, hospitalists, intensivists, and CNA coverage
  • Navy scrubs are required for RNs
  • One day facility orientation and two days departmental orientation provided
  • Unit culture is fast-paced and team-oriented
  • First-time travelers will be considered
  • Free parking is available on campus
  • RTO requests require manager approval
