Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a PACU position with on-call responsibilities and a current IL RN license requirement.

Responsibilities

• Work in the PACU of an acute care hospital serving post-anesthesia patients
• Day shifts with 4x10 hour schedule, 08:00 to 18:30, with weekday off varying
• Call required one weeknight per week and every sixth weekend, with 40-minute response time when on call
• Nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:2 in PACU
• May float to a sister campus during regular shifts
• Uses Epic charting system
• Scrubs are provided by the facility
• 18 OPS beds and 6 PACU beds in the unit
• Assist anesthesia with pre- and post-op ultrasound guided nerve blocks when needed
• Testing and learning modules must be completed during orientation
• Scrubs are provided and no parking cost is required
• No block scheduling is available for this assignment
• No more than 7 days of RTO permitted within the 13-week contract and none during the first week of orientation
• Former permanent employees must wait one year before returning as travelers
• Travelers may remain up to 18 months, followed by a required three-month break

Requirements

• Active IL RN license required at time of consideration
• Current certifications in ACLS, BLS, and PALS required
• Minimum of 1 year recent PACU or relevant nursing experience required
• Experience with Epic EMR required
• Must live at least 75 miles from the facility; local candidates not accepted
• First-time travelers are accepted
• Ability to respond within 40 minutes when on call
