Job Description
American Traveler is seeking a Pediatric StepDown RN with at least one year of experience and a DC RN license for night shifts at a pediatric inpatient and rehab facility.
Responsibilities
- Work within a specialized pediatric rehabilitation and inpatient setting
- Care for medically complex pediatric patients in both stepdown and skilled nursing environments
- Typical pediatric inpatient/skilled nursing ratios based on census
- Night shift schedule of 4x12 hour shifts from 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM
- Occasional weekend shifts depending on facility needs
- Floating required within similar pediatric rehab, inpatient, and skilled nursing units
- Cerner charting system is used
- Responsible for managing care of pediatric patients with varying levels of medical complexity
- No local radius restrictions; locals accepted at the same rate
- Block scheduling requests may be submitted but are not guaranteed
- One holiday per contract is guaranteed off, with a possible second dependent on facility needs
- No age cutoff for patients on the unit
- Compliance documents and pre-start modules must be completed before orientation
- Non-smoking facility with zero tolerance policy
- Scrub attire may be any color, but must be child-friendly and without logos
- Orientation includes 10–12 hours of self-reported, pre-start modules
- Returning staff must have at least one year separation from prior employment at this facility
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
Requirements
- Active DC RN license required prior to start; pending license may be accepted with proof but must be active before assignment
- Minimum of 1–2 years of pediatric nursing experience
- BLS/CPR certification required
- CPN or pediatric rehab certification preferred
- Experience with medically complex pediatric patients preferred
- Strong assessment and communication skills are essential
- Ability to supervise CNAs, LPNs, and PCAs as needed
- References must be available upon request
- Must not have license or background hits
