Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for an Emergency Department position requiring an active NY RN license, EPIC experience, and strong emergency care skills.

Responsibilities

• Position is in the Emergency Department of a hospital setting with adult and geriatric patients
• Assignment is for an 8-week contract with day/night rotation (7a-7p/7p-7a) and every other weekend required
• Patient ratios are 1:5 with a range of emergency diagnoses including trauma and stroke
• Care involves use of specialized equipment such as Bair hugger, rapid infuser, and safe patient handling equipment
• Must have experience with EPIC EMR, which is required for this position
• Floating within skillset to other units required
• Duties include rapid triage, trauma stabilization, critical intervention, and emergency care for a wide range of adult emergencies
• Role includes handling of isolation precautions and care for both neuro and orthopedic trauma patients
• Must be available to work every other holiday, if needed
• Dress code requires any combination of navy blue and white scrubs
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply for this role
• Candidates will complete pre-start online modules that may total up to 10 hours
• Return staff are eligible after a 1-year break

Requirements

• Active unrestricted NY single state RN license required prior to consideration
• Minimum of 1 year experience as an Emergency Room RN
• Current certifications in BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS are required
• Proficiency in IV therapy, blood product administration, central line care, phlebotomy, and IV vasopressor administration
• Experience managing CPAP/BiPAP, ventilators, CVA/stroke, neuro-trauma, spinal cord injury, and TBI
• Experience with cardiac monitoring and interpretation/management of dysrhythmias
• Experience with adult and pediatric emergency care, including trauma and orthopedic injuries
• Must have prior EPIC EMR experience
• Pending RN licenses are not accepted; license must be in hand at time of consideration
• Applicants must reside more than 75 miles from the facility
