Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for an Emergency Department night shift role in Rochester, NY, requiring current NY RN licensure and EPIC charting experience.

Responsibilities

• Work in the adult Emergency Department of a hospital setting
• Patient population includes adults and geriatrics with diverse emergency diagnoses
• Typical nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:5
• Shift is 3x12 hours, nights (7:00 PM - 7:00 AM)
• Every other weekend and holiday coverage required
• Floating within skillset to other units may be required
• Care for patients with trauma, neurological emergencies, cardiac issues, and respiratory support needs
• Utilizes equipment such as Bair hugger, rapid infuser, and safe patient handling tools
• Uses Epic EMR; Epic experience is required
• Responsibilities include triage, emergency interventions, trauma stabilization, and care for both adult and pediatric emergencies
• Orientation will include pre-start modules, with up to 5 hours billable
• Scrub colors required are any combination of navy blue and white
• Candidates must submit all scheduling requests (RTO, blocks, etc.) at time of application
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• Return staff may be considered after 1 year away
• Candidates with foreign education may require additional verification

Requirements

• Active NY single state RN license required at time of consideration
• Minimum of 1 year of recent Emergency Department RN experience
• Certifications required: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS
• Experience with IV therapy including blood product administration and vasopressors
• Ability to manage ventilators, CPAP/BiPAP, and provide neuro and ortho trauma care
• Proficiency in cardiac monitoring and dysrhythmia interpretation
• Epic EMR experience required; must be listed in work history
• Applicants must reside at least 75 miles from the facility
