Job Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Medical-Surgical unit night shift position requiring an IN or compact RN license and BLS certification.

Responsibilities

• Position is in a short-term acute care hospital on a Medical-Surgical unit
• Patient population includes orthopedic, GYN, urology, neurosurgery, and medical patients such as those with total joint replacements and all bone fractures
• Patient conditions include COPD, pneumonia, UTI, cellulitis, COVID, small bowel obstruction, and more
• Specialized care includes pre/post neuro surgery, orthopedic trauma, and continuous bladder irrigation
• Floating required within the hospital and to nearby affiliate hospitals
• Night shift schedule with four 12-hour shifts per week, from 18:00 to 6:30
• Uses Cerner EMR system
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• Position requires working 2 out of 3 major holidays
• All travelers will be required to float to other units or nearby affiliate hospitals
• Local candidates are not accepted for this role
• Any former permanent or PRN employees must have a 12-month gap before being eligible as a traveler
• Free parking is available on site
• Up to 5 days of non-holiday requested time off can be auto-approved; additional requests require approval

Requirements

• Active IN or compact RN license must be in hand prior to start
• Minimum 18 months of recent Med/Surg RN experience required
• BLS certification required; ACLS and NIHSS preferred
• Experience with IV starts required
• Med/Surg, orthopedic, neuro surgery, and trauma experience preferred
• University education must be from an ACEN or CCNE accredited program
