Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for an Operating Room position at a Level I trauma and academic center, requiring an active SC or compact RN license and at least two years of OR experience.

Responsibilities

• Work in a large main Operating Room within a Level I trauma, academic, Magnet-designated hospital
• 21 OR suites covering all surgical specialties including Trauma, Transplant, Ortho, Neuro, ENT, GU-GYN, and Robotics
• Shifts are 6:30 am – 5:00 pm with required holiday rotation, and one weekend shift (10:30 am – 11:00 pm Saturday or Sunday) per month
• Up to 4 on-call shifts per month with potential for up to 2 weekend on-call shifts per month (7 am – 7 pm or 7 pm – 7 am Saturday or Sunday)
• Floating within scope required to meet facility needs or between similar units
• Uses EPIC for charting
• Scrub color is provided by the hospital
• Position involves both circulating and scrubbing for a wide variety of surgical cases using advanced technology
• Highly dynamic, nurse-driven environment with strong RN/team support
• Unit consists of 75% RNs and 25% Certified Surgical Technologists
• Holiday coverage is included in the rotation
• Must reside at least 60 miles from the facility for non-local candidacy; locals considered on a case-by-case basis
• Previous employees must be separated from the health system for at least 1 year before returning as a traveler
• Block scheduling requests may be considered with manager approval based on unit needs
• All time-off requests (RTO) must be declared at application; approval based on facility needs
• Be prepared for potential emergency response team assignment during hurricane season (June–November)
• Parking permit available for a small fee; additional parking outside designated garage may incur extra costs

Requirements

• Active SC or multi-state compact RN license required
• Minimum of two years OR nursing experience strongly preferred
• Current AHA BLS certification required
• Radiation badge required (provided by agency)
• Scrub experience strongly preferred
• Level I trauma experience preferred
• First-time travelers will be considered
• All required modules to be completed pre-start
