Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced PCU/Telemetry RN with at least two years of recent progressive care experience and NM or compact RN licensure.

Responsibilities

• Work in a progressive care unit (PCU) with telemetry monitoring in a hospital setting
• Unit has over 18 beds and manages a high-acuity patient population
• Day shifts are 12 hours, three days per week, with weekend and call as needed
• Floating to other departments or local locations within a 20-mile radius is required
• Uses Epic EMR, with experience preferred
• Responsible for providing direct patient care, assessing, planning, and evaluating patient needs and documenting actions and responses
• Coordinates care through collaboration with patients, families, and the healthcare team
• Supervises LPNs and non-licensed assistive personnel during shifts
• A one-year waiting period is required for former permanent staff to be reconsidered as a traveler
• No local candidates within a 50-mile radius are eligible for consideration
• BCA test is administered on the first day of orientation; failure to pass after one retake results in contract termination
• Team-based, fast-paced environment requires flexibility and strong collaboration skills

Requirements

• Active New Mexico or Compact State RN license required
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications from AHA, American Health and Safety, or American Red Cross
• At least two years of current experience in an 18-plus bed telemetry/progressive care unit
• Successful completion of at least one 13-week travel assignment required
• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) required
• Must pass an onsite Basic Cardiac Arrhythmia (BCA) test, with only one opportunity to retake if not passed on the first attempt
• NIHSS certification preferred
