Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med Specialty Step Down position requiring Med/Surg and Stepdown experience at a Level 1 hospital.

Responsibilities

• Work in the Med Specialty Step Down unit within a hospital setting
• Serve a diverse patient population with a mix of simple to complex health problems
• Day shift position with 12-hour shifts, 3 days per week
• Position demands both Med/Surg and Stepdown experience
• Travel nurse experience and Level 1 trauma exposure are required, ICU experience preferred
• 50-mile radius rule applies; local candidates will not be considered
• Responsible for documentation of patient responses, administering prescribed medications, and performing minor diagnostic procedures
• Interact with patients and families to communicate care plans and discharge information
• Supportive team environment with delegated tasks to support staff
• Holiday and weekend coverage may be required according to hospital policy
• Must observe a 6-month separation period after completion of a 26-week contract before reapplying
• Compliance with dress code and possible additional hospital-specific requirements may apply

Requirements

• Active OK or multistate compact RN license required
• Minimum of one year of recent Med/Surg and Stepdown RN experience required
• Current BLS certification from the American Heart Association is required
• Associate’s Degree in Nursing from an accredited program required; BSN or higher is preferred
• Basic computer proficiency required
• Must have strong communication and interpersonal skills to care for a diverse patient population
