Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced CVICU RN with a current Arizona or compact license and recent open-heart experience for night shifts in a Level I trauma teaching hospital.

Responsibilities

• Work in the Cardiovascular ICU (CVICU) flex pool of a short-term acute care, Level I trauma, teaching hospital
• Night shifts: 3x12 hours, 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM
• Nurse-to-patient ratio: 1:2 on days, 1:1 on nights
• Floating may occur to other critical care units (ICU, STICU, PCU), MS TELE units, or Cardiac Monitoring Room based on skill set and facility needs
• Patient population includes fresh post-open-heart surgical cases and critical cardiovascular patients
• Cerner EMR is used
• Weekend shifts required as needed
• No on-call responsibilities
• Local candidates are accepted
• Provide specialized care for CVICU patients including post-open-heart surgical care and advanced cardiac support
• Must adhere to facility quality and patient safety standards including medication barcode administration
• Floating to affiliate hospitals may be required
• RTO of 5 days or less is auto-approved if not during holidays; otherwise, approval is required
• Must work 2 out of 3 facility-defined holidays; no time off permitted during the first week of assignment
• RNs may wear any scrub color
• Free parking is available on-site
• Return travelers who cancelled a previous contract at this health system within 10 days of start date are not eligible
• Former permanent or PRN staff must wait at least 12 months before being considered as a traveler

Requirements

• Active, unrestricted Arizona RN license or valid compact RN license required
• Minimum of 2 years recent CVICU RN experience required
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
• Fresh open-heart experience is required
• Proficiency in hemodynamic monitoring required; experience with IABP and Impella preferred; Prismaflex CRRT is a plus
• Cerner charting experience required
• First-time travelers accepted
• Two professional references required, including one from the most recent employer within the last year
