Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced Physical Therapist for inpatient acute care, requiring at least 2 years of PT experience and a valid NC license.

Responsibilities

• Inpatient acute care setting with adults only
• Typical caseload is 8 patients per day, with the possibility of additional patients
• Patient population includes strokes, orthopedic surgeries, fractures, generalized weakness, and fall risks
• No high-level neurosurgical or cardiothoracic surgical cases
• Use of EPIC EMR is preferred
• 8-hour day shifts typically from 7:00 am to 3:30 pm, with flexibility in start time
• Weekend rotation required; 50% holiday work expectation during contract
• Floating required within the hospital units
• Responsibilities include mobility evaluation, gait assessment, transfers, patient and equipment education, and determining discharge disposition
• Work collaboratively with PTAs, nursing, OT, RT, and rapid response/code teams
• Initial orientation provided, with facility and unit-specific training during first week
• Scrub color is light gray
• Free parking is available
• First-time travelers are accepted if they meet acute care experience requirements
• Time off requests (RTO) must be manager-approved

Requirements

• Current NC PT license required (license required if applicable)
• Minimum of 2 years recent acute care physical therapy experience
• BLS certification required
• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Physical Therapy
• Experience with adult patient types listed, including mobility assessments and discharge planning
• Preference given to candidates with EPIC EMR experience
• Permanent address must be at least 50 miles from the work location
