Job Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Float Pool position requiring cardiac and telemetry skills and a current MA RN license.
Responsibilities
- Work in a hospital setting within multiple Med/Surg and Telemetry units
- Float among 5 different MedSurg/Tele units including ortho, urology, neurology, GYN, cardiology, and cardio-thoracic
- Patient ratios average 5:1 across units with unit sizes between 16 and 32 beds
- Shift is 12-hour nights, with every other weekend and every other holiday required
- Most Fridays will be required during the contract
- No specific schedule requests or extended time off allowed
- Uses Meditech EMR; experience is required
- Responsibilities include providing nursing care across various Med/Surg and Telemetry patient populations
- Must adapt quickly to changing environments and units
- Participation in Relias Advanced Dysrhythmia testing is required with up to two attempts
- Teamwork is emphasized due to frequent floating between units
- Holiday coverage is required as scheduled
- Local candidates are accepted at the same rate
Requirements
- Active MA RN license required
- Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
- Minimum 2 years recent acute care RN experience and cardiac experience required
- Must be able to independently read telemetry strips
- Experience with Meditech IVs required
- Must pass an on-site telemetry exam on Day 1 with a score of 84% or better (two attempts allowed)
- Level 1 Trauma hospital experience required
- Preferred 3-5 years float experience and ability to adapt quickly to different units
- 2 managerial references with recent performance evaluations required, including one from the past 12 months
