Responsibilities

Radiation Therapists are part of the oncology team that treats patients with cancer. Radiation Therapists work with linear accelerators in order to deliver radiation therapy. Responsible for many treatment-related tasks, radiation therapists explain the course of treatment to patients, follow safety procedures, examine, maintain and operate the equipment they work with, verify computer data to ensure the machine delivers the correct dose of radiation in the appropriate location, monitor patients to check for unusual reactions, and keep detailed, accurate treatment records.

Requirements

1+ year of recent experience in this setting
Valid professional license or registration if required by this state
Valid Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association (AHA)
Valid Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification through AHA recommended and may be required
Valid ARRT(T)
Specialty-related certifications are preferred and may be required
