Job Description

American Traveler is seeking a skilled RN for an Outpatient Infusion Med/Surg role requiring IV proficiency and a valid SD or compact RN license.

Responsibilities

• Position is in an Outpatient Infusion unit with 20 infusion rooms and 1-2 designated COVID spots
• Ambulatory patients receive infusions for conditions such as RA, GI, immunotherapy, MS, blood transfusions, hydration, iron, antibiotics, and injections
• RN patient ratio is 1:7
• 10-hour day shifts, 0630-1700, 40 hours per week
• No floating required
• No on-call or weekend rotation
• Epic charting system is used and experience is required
• Utilizes Omnicell, Alaris IV pumps, and CADD portable pumps
• Responsibilities include administering a wide variety of outpatient infusions and injections
• RN performs phlebotomy for difficult draws as needed; CRNA available for ultrasound-guided IVs
• Daily support includes 3 CNAs and an on-unit charge nurse who may take patient assignments
• 2-3 days of orientation provided based on experience and comfort level
• Holiday coverage required if scheduled to work; must work 2 out of 4 major holidays if applicable
• Navy blue scrubs required

Requirements

• Current SD or compact RN license
• Minimum 1.5 years RN experience in a relevant clinical setting
• First-time travelers must have at least 2 years RN experience
• Current BLS certification
• Completion of a nursing program approved by a board of nursing
• Excellent IV skills and experience with all vascular access devices (peripheral and central lines)
• Knowledge of immunotherapy medications
• Must live at least 100 miles from any Monument Health facility
• Former permanent staff must wait one full year before returning as a traveler
