Job Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Tele position in Washington, DC, requiring a DC RN license and expertise with Cerner and NIHSS.

Responsibilities

• Work in a hospital medical/surgical telemetry unit
• Night shift position with three 12-hour shifts per week
• Patient population includes adults requiring med/surg and telemetry care
• Department 6204 assignment
• Cerner is the electronic medical record system used and prior experience is required
• Provide comprehensive assessment and nursing care to adult med/surg and telemetry patients
• Perform both initial and ongoing patient assessments with proper documentation
• Position requires efficient, compassionate patient care delivery, interpreting patient needs, and coordinating with interdisciplinary team members
• Two manager or supervisor references from the last 12 months are preferred, with at least one from the most recent employer
• COVID and Flu vaccination documentation may be required
• Dress code and orientation details will be provided upon assignment
• Holiday coverage may be expected as part of the rotation

Requirements

• Active DC RN license is required at the time of consideration
• Minimum of 2 years of recent Med/Surg Tele experience in a US hospital
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications from AHA are required
• NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification required
• CPI certification is required
• Graduate of an accredited or NLN-approved RN program
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) is highly desired
• Experience with Cerner EMR is required
• Must have a US Social Security Number
• Applicants must live at least 25 miles from the facility
