Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Progressive Care Unit position with night shifts and a KY or compact license requirement.

Responsibilities

• Work in a Progressive Care Unit (PCU) within a hospital setting
• Night shifts, three 12-hour shifts per week from 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM
• Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:5-6
• Responsibilities include management of dysrhythmias, O2 protocol, non-invasive airway management, drip and line care, blood product administration, rapid response team activation, and use of isolation precautions/PPE
• Computerized documentation using Epic EMR
• Travelers may be required to float to different units
• Main duties include providing comprehensive care for progressive care patients, including managing cardiac rhythms and respiratory protocols
• Participation in rapid response team activation as necessary
• Return staff must wait 2 years before being eligible for travel roles
• First-time travelers are accepted for this assignment
• Candidate must schedule required lab appointments within 2 days of signing and complete them within 2 weeks
• Orientation includes completion of up to 2 hours of online modules and annual specialty-specific training

Requirements

• Active KY or compact RN license required
• Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications (NIHSS may be completed prior to assignment)
• Minimum of 2 years recent PCU experience required
• Experience with interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
• Skills in O2 and non-invasive airway management, peripheral and central line care, blood product administration, and using isolation precautions
• Epic EMR experience required
• Applicants must reside more than 75 miles from the facility to qualify for travel pay rates
• Two professional references required for consideration
