Job Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Cardiothoracic ICU night shift position requiring a minimum of 2 years of CTICU experience and expertise with cardiac surgery patients and devices.

Responsibilities

• Work in a 14-bed Cardiothoracic ICU at a large teaching hospital with Level 1 Trauma Designation
• Primary patient population includes cardiac surgery cases, ECMO, OHT, LVAD/RVAD, and Impella devices
• Average daily census is 11 patients with a 1:2 RN-to-patient ratio
• Night shifts from 7:00 PM, scheduled every Thursday, Friday, and Saturday
• Required to work 75% of scheduled holidays
• Floating to adult critical care units may be required as needed
• No on-call or call back responsibilities
• Uses Epic EMR (experience required)
• Utilizes advanced equipment including ECMO, IABP, RVAD, LVAD, Impella, Philips and Edwards monitors, Alaris IV pumps, and Omnicell medication dispensing
• Orientation includes New Employee Orientation plus 3 days of departmental training
• Collaborative team environment with support from CNA, HUC (weekdays), charge nurse, phlebotomy (PRN), IV/VAT team 24/7, RT 24/7, and intensivists and hospitalists 24/7
• Navy blue scrubs are required

Requirements

• Active NC or compact RN license
• Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications
• Minimum 2 years of recent experience in a same-level CTICU required
• Epic EMR experience required
• Proven proficiency caring for high-acuity cardiac surgery patients and operating devices such as ECMO, Impella, and IABP
• Must be able to present on patients per shift at designated times (1500 and 2030)
• First-time travelers will not be considered
