Job Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Cardiovascular Surgical ICU (CVSICU) position requiring current CV ICU experience and cardiac surgery recovery skills.
Responsibilities
- Work in an 18-bed Cardiovascular Surgical ICU in a hospital setting
- Care for post-op cardiac surgery, cardiac transplant, lung transplant, and ventricular assist device patients as well as other complex cardiac cases
- Nurse-to-patient ratios of 1:1 or 1:2 depending on acuity
- Day shift, 12 hours, 7:00 AM - 7:30 PM
- Assignment options for 36 or 48 hours per week
- Requires working 5 or 6 weekends over each 6-week schedule
- Utilizes EPIC EMR
- Care for a complex patient population following cardiac and thoracic surgeries and transplants
- Orientation is provided on the 2nd and 4th Monday of every month
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary critical care team
- Scrubs or further dress code requirements are not specified
- Local candidates are eligible unless applying to Howard County General, which has a 60-mile radius exclusion
Requirements
- Active MD or compact state RN license
- Current BLS certification required
- Minimum experience in recovery of post-operative cardiac surgical patients in a dedicated CV ICU required
- Experience in an open heart unit receiving patients directly from the OR required
- Experience with ventilators, CRRT, Swan-Ganz catheters, epicardial wires/pacemakers, vasoactive drip titration, level 1 IABP, and ECMO required
- Preferred certifications include ACLS, Critical Care certification, or trauma course
- EPIC EMR experience preferred but not required
- Experience in a facility of at least 500 beds required
