Job Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Mother Baby (Antepartum, L&D, Nursery, Postpartum) position in Hawaii requiring a HI RN license and flexibility with shifts.
Responsibilities
- Work in a 5-bed OB unit providing care across antepartum, labor and delivery, postpartum, nursery, and outpatient testing
- Mixed patient population including antepartum, intrapartum, postpartum, high-risk pregnancies, and well or special care nursery infants
- Uses equipment such as Avalon fetal monitoring, PYXIS, Ohmeda Infant Warmer, Neopuff, Bilibed, Neoblue, adult and neonatal crash carts, and Echoscreen among others
- Paper charting is utilized
- Candidates must be available for varied 12-hour shifts with preference for nights
- Required to work 80 hours in a two week period with no exceptions
- Floating to other departments may be required if census decreases
- Responsibilities include care of L&D, postpartum, antepartum, nursery, and high-risk OB patients, as well as assisting with diagnostic testing and newborn procedures
- Must be able to provide immediate newborn care and support including phototherapy and special care nursery needs
- Team-based environment with support across OB specialties
- Orientation includes HR, safety, EMR training, and unit-specific procedures
- Must be able to start work at the specified date and time (7:00 AM on the appointed day)
- Must be willing to interview and accept quickly as the position is urgent
- First day of orientation involves HR processes and safety; second day is dedicated to EMR training
Requirements
- Active HI RN license required
- At least 2 years of L&D and couplet care experience required
- Certifications required: BLS, ACLS, NRP, STABLE
- Strong experience in antepartum, intrapartum, postpartum, nursery, and high-risk OB care
- Ability to perform adult and neonatal IV starts and Accu checks, PKU on newborns, newborn resuscitation, APGAR scoring, bulb suctioning, and neonatal care tasks
- Experience assisting anesthesia during intrathecal or epidural administration and with C-Sections
- Competency in administering and titrating Pitocin, Magnesium Sulfate, and Insulin drips
- Able to monitor and interpret fetal heart rate and use IUPC, ISE, amnioinfusion, and assist with ECV procedures
