Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg position in Iowa requiring ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS certifications.

Responsibilities

• Work in a Med/Surg unit with potential float between local campuses within the same discipline
• Care for medical-surgical and oncology patients
• Uses Epic EMR system
• Night and weekend shifts may be required
• May be required to work during winter holidays such as Christmas, New Year's, or Thanksgiving
• Provide comprehensive care to Med/Surg and oncology patients
• May float to similar units within local hospitals as needed
• Document care using Epic EMR system
• Required to work at least 2 of 3 major winter holidays (Christmas, New Year's, Thanksgiving)
• Limited to requesting off only 1 day during the holiday season (11/26/25-11/30/25 or 12/23/25-1/2/26)
• First-time travelers will be considered
• Candidates who have been employed by the client within the last 12 months may not be eligible

Requirements

• Active Iowa or Compact RN license required
• Current ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS certifications required (NIHSS may be obtained prior to start or during onboarding)
• Minimum of 1 year of Med/Surg or Oncology experience required
• High acuity care experience preferred
• Prior travel nursing experience preferred
• One supervisory reference from within the past 2 years required
