Job Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Telemetry Float Pool position requiring CA license, cardiac monitoring skills, and orthopedic experience.
Responsibilities
- Hospital-based Med/Surg and Telemetry Float Pool setting
- Care provided to adolescent through geriatric populations, with a moderate volume of orthopedic surgical cases
- Assigned a nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:4 with an average census of 36
- Required to float between Med/Surg and Telemetry units as needed
- Every other weekend coverage required
- No on-call responsibilities
- Day shift, 3x12 hour shifts (7:00–19:30)
- Royal blue scrubs required
- Manage and interpret dysrhythmias and perform telemetry monitoring both on-unit and remotely
- Provide care to post-cardiac angiogram, MI, pre/post-cardiac cath, and pre/post-cardiac surgery patients
- Perform blood product administration, central/PICC line care, and IV starts
- Administer Heparin protocols, manage cardiac and vasoactive drips without titration
- Perform respiratory management including chest tubes, CPAP/BIPAP, HFNC, non-invasive airway management, oxygen delivery, and tracheostomy care
- Utilize Rapid Response Teams as needed
- No RTO permitted during the first two weeks of assignment; all time-off requests must be confirmed and submitted at the start

Requirements
- Active CA RN license required
- Minimum 3 years of RN experience
- At least 2 years of recent telemetry experience required
- Ability to read and interpret cardiac strips
- Current certifications in BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS required
- Competency in med-surg and telemetry nursing, including care of orthopedic and simple gynecological surgical patients
- Experience in total joint ortho cases required
- Skills in cardiac, IV, medication administration, and respiratory/thoracic management as specified
- Ability to work with adolescents through geriatric patients
