Job Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for an Emergency Room position requiring a CA license, strong ER and travel experience, and EPIC proficiency.

Responsibilities

• Work in the Emergency Room of a hospital setting
• Rotating 12-hour evening and night shifts, including 1p-1a, 3p-3a, 5p-5a, and 7p-7a
• Assigned to all listed shift start times throughout the contract
• Fast-paced department with a daily census of 190-200 patients and high turnover rate
• Nurses may hold inpatient admissions and triage ambulance patients at the bedside
• Uses EPIC electronic medical record system
• Critical thinking and ability to perform in a fast-paced ER environment are essential
• Patient care and nursing excellence are major priorities with a focus on patient experience
• Patient population is generally well-educated and vocal about care standards
• Some trauma and pediatric experience is strongly preferred
• CEN and TNCC certifications, and 3-5 years of ER experience are strongly preferred
• Travelers are responsible for triaging ambulance patients and may hold patients awaiting admission

Requirements

• Active CA RN license required
• Current BLS (AHA), ACLS (AHA), and PALS (AHA) or ENPC certifications
• NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification required
• Minimum 2 years of recent ER experience and previous ER travel assignment required
• Must have EPIC experience, and work history must show where EPIC was used
• Superior clinical references from recent employment with at least one from a nurse manager or director
• Complete employment history for the past 7 years including facility names, specialties, and dates
• Current ER skills checklist dated within one year
