Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Cath Lab position working eight-hour days with required call coverage in an acute care setting.

Responsibilities

• Work in the Cardiac Cath Lab of an acute care facility
• Three procedure rooms staffed by teams of 2 RNs and 2 Radiology Techs
• Average of 13 cases per day including diagnostic and interventional procedures such as PCI, TEEs, balloon pumps, pacemakers, event recorders, and defibrillators
• EPIC EMR is used for charting, with EPIC CUPID for scheduling
• Shifts are 8-hour days, staggered start times between 7:00am and 9:00am
• On-call coverage required after scheduled shifts, including nights and weekends, with a 30-minute response time
• Full weekend call every third weekend and on-call every third day of the week
• Call also covers holiday coverage
• Primary responsibilities include circulating, patient prep, sedation, starting IVs, and all patient care needs during Cath Lab procedures
• Nurses do not scrub but sedate and circulate during cases
• Documentation in EPIC is performed both pre- and post-procedure
• Light blue scrubs provided; staff must supply their own shoes and shoe covers are provided
• Unit/department-specific orientation is 1-2 days
• Charge nurse and manager provide team support and manage case board
• Former employees must have a 2-year break from any WVU Medicine location before reapplying
• Travelers may not work for WVU for more than one cumulative year before requiring a 2-year break

Requirements

• Active WV or compact RN license required
• Current ACLS (AHA) and BLS (AHA) certifications required
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience with at least 1 year of Cath Lab experience
• Prior travel nursing experience is highly preferred
• Ability to work efficiently with diagnostic and interventional cardiac procedures
• Experience using EPIC EMR preferred
• Candidates must live outside a 50-mile radius from the facility
• Submission requires an unexpired driver’s license
