Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Cath Lab/IR position in California, requiring a CA RN license, Cath Lab and IR experience, and call coverage.

Responsibilities

  • Position is in an acute care hospital setting within a combined Cath Lab and Interventional Radiology (IR) unit
  • Work with a mixed patient population requiring both cardiac and IR procedures, including heart caths, EP studies, pacemaker and defibrillator placements, PICC lines, central lines, and stroke interventions
  • Average caseload is 8-10 cases per day in three suites
  • Day shift with 10-hour shifts, starting at 6:30 a.m.
  • Evening call required 1-2 times per week after day shift ends
  • 1-2 weekends per month with 24-hour call (6:30 a.m. to 6:30 a.m.)
  • Holiday call required for one major and one minor holiday
  • Call response time is 30 minutes
  • No floating required
  • EMR system is Cerner
  • Role involves procedure set up, circulating, administering and monitoring sedation, and hemodynamic monitoring from the control room with direct patient visibility
  • Work as part of a three-person Cath/IR Lab team with support from a Cath Lab Manager, charge nurse, and techs
  • Unit/department orientation includes up to 2 weeks precepted with another RN; call duties begin in week 3
  • Scrubs are provided per department dress code
  • Must be comfortable moving between the procedure and control rooms as required by the workflow
  • Candidates may not have been employed directly by CommonSpirit, CHI, or Dignity within the past year
  • First time travelers will be considered

Requirements

  • Active, unencumbered CA RN license required at time of consideration
  • Current BLS and ACLS certifications from AHA required
  • NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification required
  • COVID vaccination required
  • Minimum 2 years of RN experience in both Cath Lab and IR required
  • Previous travel nursing experience preferred
  • Experience with hemodynamic monitoring and procedural sedation required
  • Proficiency with Cerner EMR preferred
