Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Telemetry position requiring strong cardiac medication and telemetry skills on night shifts.

Responsibilities

• Position is based in a hospital Med/Surg Telemetry unit
• 12-hour night shifts from 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM
• Assignment requires working every other weekend
• Floating to all units within skill level may be required
• No on-call responsibilities
• Responsibilities include assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating patient care for assigned patients
• May assist in supervising and teaching non-RN staff including LPNs, PCTs, and Unit Secretaries
• No more than 5 days of requested time off (RTO) will be accepted for this assignment

Requirements

• Active OH or compact RN license required and must be verified on Nursys
• Minimum of 2 years of recent Med/Surg Telemetry experience required
• Competency with cardiac medications including titration and application
• Must be skilled in telemetry and able to interpret heart rhythms
• Ability to recognize and respond to changes in patient status, with strong critical thinking skills
• Knowledge of stroke signs and symptoms required
• Strong communication skills required
• Current American Heart Association BLS and ACLS required
• Current NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification required
