Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Pediatric Cardiac Intensive Care Unit (PCICU/PICU) position requiring FL or compact RN licensure, prior open heart PICU experience, and travel nursing background.

Responsibilities

  • Position is based in the Pediatric Cardiac Intensive Care Unit (PCICU) and Pediatric ICU within a hospital central staffing office
  • Level 1 trauma and teaching hospital setting treating a wide range of complex pediatric acute care patients
  • Shifts are 12 hours, both days (0700-1930) and nights (1900-0730) on variable days
  • 36 hours per week with requirement to work some holidays and weekends
  • Open to floating to other units with travelers floating before permanent staff
  • Epic EMR is used and recent experience with this system is required
  • 50-mile radius rule applies for eligibility
  • Care for a diverse population of pediatric acute care and complex cardiac patients in both PCICU and PICU settings
  • All new RN starts will need to review rhythms prior to start and may require additional training if EKG tests are not successfully completed
  • Unit manager interviews are required
  • Influenza vaccination is mandatory prior to start, with only documented medical exemptions accepted; egg allergy is not a valid exemption
  • No requested time off (RTO) allowed within the first two weeks of the assignment; maximum of 6 days RTO allowed over 13 weeks
  • No block scheduling is permitted

Requirements

  • Active FL or compact RN license required at time of consideration
  • Minimum of 3 years' Level 2/3 PCICU (open heart PICU) nursing experience as an RN required
  • Documented open heart PICU experience in work history is mandatory
  • Prior travel nursing experience required
  • Current BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications required
  • Recent Epic EMR experience required
  • Must be able to pass a basic specialty test and an EKG test with lethal rhythms; an 80% passing score is required and 100% correct identification of lethal rhythms
  • At least one reference dated within the past 12 months required
