Job Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Pediatric Cardiac Intensive Care Unit (PCICU/PICU) position requiring FL or compact RN licensure, prior open heart PICU experience, and travel nursing background.
Responsibilities
- Position is based in the Pediatric Cardiac Intensive Care Unit (PCICU) and Pediatric ICU within a hospital central staffing office
- Level 1 trauma and teaching hospital setting treating a wide range of complex pediatric acute care patients
- Shifts are 12 hours, both days (0700-1930) and nights (1900-0730) on variable days
- 36 hours per week with requirement to work some holidays and weekends
- Open to floating to other units with travelers floating before permanent staff
- Epic EMR is used and recent experience with this system is required
- 50-mile radius rule applies for eligibility
- Care for a diverse population of pediatric acute care and complex cardiac patients in both PCICU and PICU settings
- All new RN starts will need to review rhythms prior to start and may require additional training if EKG tests are not successfully completed
- Unit manager interviews are required
- Influenza vaccination is mandatory prior to start, with only documented medical exemptions accepted; egg allergy is not a valid exemption
- No requested time off (RTO) allowed within the first two weeks of the assignment; maximum of 6 days RTO allowed over 13 weeks
- No block scheduling is permitted
Requirements
- Active FL or compact RN license required at time of consideration
- Minimum of 3 years' Level 2/3 PCICU (open heart PICU) nursing experience as an RN required
- Documented open heart PICU experience in work history is mandatory
- Prior travel nursing experience required
- Current BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications required
- Recent Epic EMR experience required
- Must be able to pass a basic specialty test and an EKG test with lethal rhythms; an 80% passing score is required and 100% correct identification of lethal rhythms
- At least one reference dated within the past 12 months required
