Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a hospital-wide Float Pool position requiring three years of recent experience in ER, ICU, PCU, Med Surg, and Behavioral Health.

Responsibilities

• Hospital-wide float pool within the Nursing Resource Team serving ER, ICU, PCU, Med Surg, and Behavioral Health units
• Cares for adult and youth acute, addiction recovery, progressive care, critical care, and medical-surgical patients
• Floats between units with assignments communicated two hours before each shift; may float mid-shift as needed
• 12-hour shifts, both days and nights (0700–1930 or 1900–0730), with every other weekend required
• Patient ratios: ICU 1:1–2, Med/Surg and ED boarded Med/Surg 1:5–6, PCU 1:3–4, Behavioral Health 1:5–6 (days) / 1:10 (overnights)
• Units supported have 21–35 beds depending on assignment
• Navy blue scrubs required
• Responsible for evaluating, planning, implementing, and documenting nursing care for various patient populations across multiple units
• Assists during exams and procedures and administers medications within scope of RN practice
• Promotes patient independence through education on conditions, medications, and self-care skills
• Onboarding includes equipment and restraint training as well as lifts orientation
• Consistent schedule provided in advance with units assigned shortly before each shift
• Client does not accept local candidates; must live more than 50 miles from the facility
• First-time travelers are not specified as being excluded
• Regular attendance and adaptability to multiple specialties are essential

Requirements

• Active ID or compact RN license
• Graduate of an accredited nursing program (BSN highly preferred)
• Minimum of 3 years' experience in ER, ICU, PCU, Med Surg, and Behavioral Health/Psych (adult acute, youth acute, addiction recovery)
• Experience with cardiac drips and non-invasive ventilation
• Current certifications: BLS (AHA), ACLS (AHA), NIHSS
• Must complete Restraint C training, MOAB 8-hour class, and Boundaries 1-hour module during onboarding
• Must pass Department of Health & Welfare fingerprint background check for Behavioral Health
