Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Tele position requiring a VA or compact RN license and recent acute care and travel nursing experience.

Responsibilities

• Work on a Med/Surg Telemetry unit in a hospital setting
• 30-bed unit with the ability to flex up to 37 beds
• Mixed surgical patient population including general surgery, trauma, and smaller orthopedic cases
• Typical nurse-to-patient ratios are 1:5-6
• Night shifts with every other weekend and major holiday required
• Floating to other Med/Surg Tele units may be required
• EPIC EMR is used on the unit
• Phlebotomy support and 1-2 CNAs per shift
• Responsibilities include care coordination, medication administration, and patient education
• Will manage post-trauma and surgical patients, including those with multi-system injuries
• Team supported by sitters and CNAs on each shift
• Scrub color must be navy blue, white, or a combination of the two
• Major holiday coverage is required
• First-time travelers will not be considered for this position
• Study guide for dysrhythmia exam is available

Requirements

• Active RN license in VA or compact state is required
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
• At least one year of recent acute care RN experience required
• One year of travel nursing experience required
• Must live at least 50 miles from the facility
• Must pass EKG dysrhythmia exam with up to two attempts allowed
• Post-surgery care experience preferred
• EPIC charting experience preferred
