Job Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced Med-Surg RN for a 13-week night shift contract, requiring a NM or compact RN license and two years of recent specialty experience.

Responsibilities

• Work in a hospital general medical unit (Med-Surg)
• 12-hour night shifts with weekends and on-call as needed
• Assignment duration is 13 weeks
• Floating between departments and to locations within 20 miles is required
• May be required to serve as charge nurse or preceptor depending on experience
• Epic EMR used, on-site training available
• Provide direct patient care to assigned group using nursing process and protocols
• Collaborate with healthcare team and coordinate patient care
• Oversee LPNs and assistive personnel as needed
• Must complete and pass unit-specific education and competency testing per standards
• First day orientation includes Basic Cardiac Arrhythmia Testing (Med-Surg nurses excluded)
• Holiday coverage and flexible scheduling may be required

Requirements

• Active RN license in New Mexico or compact state required
• Current BLS certification from AHA, American Health and Safety, or American Red Cross
• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) required
• Two years of current Med-Surg experience required
• At least one prior 13-week travel assignment required
• Epic EMR experience preferred but not required
• No local candidates permitted; must reside at least 50 miles from facility
• Returning former perm staff must wait one year for consideration
