Job Description
American Traveler is seeking a Physical Therapist with at least two years of recent inpatient and outpatient experience and a New Mexico PT license for a mixed acute care and outpatient role.
Responsibilities
- Position is a mix of acute care and outpatient physical therapy settings
- Work includes inpatient, outpatient, long-term care, community-based care, and home health care environments
- Schedule is 40 hours per week, 8-hour day shifts, Monday through Friday, with one weekend per month in acute care
- Floating between departments and local locations within 20 miles is required
- Patient population includes adults and pediatrics from birth to 18 years old
- EPIC EMR experience preferred, but onsite training is available
- Main responsibilities include evaluating and treating patients with a variety of physical and developmental disorders using therapeutic interventions
- Involves coordinating efforts with other disciplines to meet discharge goals and optimize patient independence
- Requires knowledge of growth and development across the lifespan
- Must be flexible, a strong team player, and able to adapt to a fast-paced environment
- Float to adult or pediatric units as census demands
- No local candidates accepted within a 50-mile radius
- Returning employees must wait one year before being eligible for a travel contract
- Candidates must pass initial orientation and any required competency testing
- Scrub or dress code information is not specified
Requirements
- Current New Mexico PT license required (license required if applicable)
- Bachelor's degree in Physical Therapy required; Doctorate preferred
- BLS certification required through AHA, American Health and Safety, or American Red Cross
- Minimum two years of recent experience in physical therapy specialty
- At least one 13-week previous travel assignment required
- One year of pediatric PT experience required if working with pediatric patients
- Ability to speak, read, and write in English
- Basic computer and charting skills required
